The journey
The gateway of cricket – a national obsession, seemed perfect to reveal relatively unknown stories of India. Something about the pace of traditional cricket made the information flow through light poetry with some prose. The sprinkling of thought links are designed to satisfy anyone who wants to dig deeper.
The research involved more than 20 books, and consultations with players, experts, fans over 18 months. Students from Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, the earliest cricket centres were set off on discovery missions to unearth the cricketing history of their city. An online community to share personal tales of cricket was created, which even book readers could access.
